Tutoring Policies

At Journey to Reading, we understand that schedules change and unexpected situations happen. Our goal is to be flexible with families while protecting the tutoring time reserved especially for each learner.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a tutoring session. With at least 24 hours' notice, the session may be rescheduled based on availability.

Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours' notice or missed without notice may be counted as used. Illnesses, emergencies, and special circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Late Arrivals

If a learner arrives late, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time so that the next learner's reserved time is not affected.

Tutoring Packages

4- and 8-session tutoring packages are valid for 90 days from the date of purchase. This provides flexibility for scheduling while encouraging consistency in the learner's reading progress. Extensions may be considered for illness, emergencies, or special circumstances.

Once a tutoring package has begun, payments are generally nonrefundable. Exceptional circumstances may be considered individually.

Monthly Memberships

Monthly memberships reserve a recurring day and time for your learner and renew automatically each month. Your recurring schedule will be confirmed before the membership and payment begin.

You may cancel your membership before the next monthly renewal. Payments for a month already in progress are generally nonrefundable.

Small-Group Sessions

Because group sessions reserve a place for each learner, missed group sessions do not guarantee an individual make-up lesson. When sufficient notice is provided, we will try to accommodate the learner in another appropriate group session when space and scheduling allow.

If Journey to Reading Cancels

If Journey to Reading needs to cancel a scheduled tutoring session, the family will receive a make-up session or appropriate credit.

Free Trial Sessions

If you need to cancel or reschedule your free trial, please provide as much notice as possible. Repeated missed free-trial appointments may not be eligible for another complimentary session.

We want our policies to be fair and compassionate while protecting the dedicated time reserved for every learner. If an unexpected situation arises, please contact us so we can work with you whenever reasonably possible.
